Good morning.

Yesterday, after I finished my work, I got to know about Sayachan and Yuuyu’s graduations.
Not sure if calling it a shock, but I still can’t find words.
It was so very sudden that I believe it’ll take me some more time in order to accept and understand the fact that Yuuna and Sayachan will quit their activities…

I wanted to appear with them in the Yokohama Arena and in the Nagoya Dome…
There also is that frustration but, of course, I think what they have chosen has to be properly supported.

Sayachan is such a gentle and soft presence, so much that talking with her would soften my feelings as well.
Still, she has a firm attitude and I love and find charming how she’s honest and frank towards her own feelings.
I wanted to have more occasions to stand on the stage with her…

I think Yuuna has been searching for her own answer…
We talked together about a lot of things.
I particularly want for her to be smiling in the future.
She’s a cute junior that was so kind to adore me, so I want to cheer on her back as she does her best.

There’s a hand-shake event todat.
I believe you’re all having lots of different feelings right now, but I hope for the expression of as many people as possible to turn into a smile.

Sorry I made you worry yesterday.

Today I can work at ease so I’m properly going to rest when I’ll have time!
I’m alive hence I’m all right!

Because of my poor condition I was absent from today’s handshake event.
After resting and sleeping all day, I’m somehow able to move again.
Seems like the constant dizziness I had been experiencing lately wasn’t totally harmless.
Truth being told, I had an outbreak of fever just before Request Hour but since I coped with it thanks to intravenous drip I thought it was no big deal. Looks like I was wrong.

My head spins and I feel sick whenever I board a vehicle or look at my phone.
I’ll have to remain quiet for a while.

Sorry to make you worry.

Matsui Rena
Team E Leader’s retrospective on SKE48’s  recent growth
from Nikkei Entertainment August 2013

Matsui Rena who ranked 7th in last June General Elections, entering the sacrosanct “Kami 7”. At the same time, a large number of SKE48 members ranked in the elections, ensuring the group to gain fame of national scale. Looking one year back, as a first generation member and core existence of the group, she tells us what have been the major events that punctuated this year.

Rena - With Maeda Atsuko graduating last year, chances for young AKB48 members  have multiplied and they’ve been gradually advancing toward the spotlight. While AKB48 was going through this transformation and SKE48, NMB48 and HKT48 attacking, I think this year clearly revealed what kind of group each of us is.

One of the most important event in this regard for SKE48 was when in April, during Budokan concert, we showed a more powerful visage than ever by singing 31 songs in a row without MC. When we got all together to plan the concert, we were very glad to hear from the staff 「SKE48 is the only one that could pull something like that」, all the members got really enthusiasts. *smiling from ear to ear* If I had to word it very simply, I’d say performing 31 songs in a row was fun.
Looking at the audience I could tell that once the 「When is there gonna be an MC」bewilderment washed away, replaced by 「They ain’t gonna stop!」 they were even more fire up than usual.

I still vividly remember last summer, when we performed in the large scale female idols festival 「IDOL NATION」. After our performance on the first stage had ended, unfortunately, I felt the audience didn’t quite enjoy it. I think that’s because we lacked experience in this kind of environment, where the audience isn’t composed of our fans only like in the theater, but people who were there to see other idols. We faced different way of cheering and had to forget what we thought were common practices, so much that when the members met during the break, we all changed our MCs. For the second stage, we changed our approach 「I’ve confidence in how powerful our performances are, what would you say about we see who of you or us have the more energy? (tln : talking to the audience)」. Doing so it felt the live was a much bigger success. Until then we had been going forth by leaning on AKB48’s legacy, but it felt we had just opened a new path for SKE48 to walk, and I could see the difference in responses.

I think we also managed to display our own charm during SKE48 first solo apparition in last year 「NHK Kouhaku Utagasen」. At first murmurs in the venue were something like 「It’s the turn of one of AKB48 spawn」and the applause was scarce too. But with Akarin (Suda Akari) doing ballet moves, the now graduated Fujimoto Miki doing back-flips, cheers arose from the audience and when it was over we got wrapped in strong applause and acclamations. I took it as the proof we had been approved of.


Her attachment to SKE48

On March 2012 it was announced that Matsui Jurina would hold concurrent position with AKB48’s Team K. Matsui Jurina being even more absent from Nagoya, something switched in Matsui Rena’s heart who had been hauling SKE48 as part of WMatsui.

Rena - The biggest change I experienced this year was the full bloom of my profound attachment to SKE48. I think the apparition of kennin members has been a stimulus and a plus for AKB48 group as a whole. But as someone entrusted with the duty to guide SKE48 forward, I can’t let go of my conviction that 「SKE48 is number one」. Sometimes fans will tell me during handshake events 「I hope Rena-chan will be in concurrent position someday」, but I always answer them 「SKE48 is where I belong」.


In her speech during this year General Elections, she announced 「This year I’ll go all out」, showing a confidence in herself unheard of before.

Rena - This year my solo works have increased, fans reported 「I’ve seen you on TV in this CM!」 and overall I can feel there are more people aware of my existence. I think it played a major role that I was finally able to tell my fans openly, related to last year elections, 「I was disappointed with my rank. I want to stand at the top.」. In response, everyone push me up and bestowed me this chance. I want to make all my possible so that one year after it will appear to have been the right choice to give me this 7th position.


In AKB48 Group, teams remodeling in called 「Shuffle」. On April SKE48 went through its first shuffle and Matsui Rena went from Team S to Team E, where she took the function of Leader.

Rena -  With so many S members graduating, I think the shuffle was necessary so that everyone would be ready to give it’s best once again.
There are a lot of young, 5th generation members in Team E, so I’m looking forward to see how they’ll grow from now on. SKE48 new era starts with the 5th generation, or so is the image they have attached to them. Looking at the elections, ranking members go as far as the 4th generation however, meaning SKE48’s alternation of generation is still ahead.
I was extremely surprised as I didn’t imagine to become Team E Leader. Fans tell me 「Do your best as leader」, but I don’t think it should be about me, rather I think my role is to create an environment where I can tell members with confidence 「Let’s go forth all together」. There are members in E who are  still hesitant to step forward during recording with their seniors. There I tell them 「You can moderate your reserve 」.

SKE48 12th single to be released on July 17th 「Utsukushii Inazuma」is a striking title, which marks the start of a new, reborn, SKE48.

Rena - I was expecting a cute, cheerful summer idol song, so i was dumbfound when I first heard the demo. It’s the most adult music SKE48 ever had. We also have serious expressions in the video, I think it’s perfect to introduce the new SKE48.

Just like yesterday, today as well I’m taking part in AKB’s hand-shake event.
Thanks to everyone who came yesterday!

I had everyone congratulate me, and that made me very happy.
Also, since you all talk about lots of things - also related to yourselves - I had really fun being able to talk about so many different topics!♪

Oh, right!
Yesterday there also were some people going to their former oshi saying that they changed oshi. (tln: You know, the oshihen)
Welll, you know…
I myself have been told many times, until now, “I changed my oshi from Renachan to someone else”, and well…one would feel down-hearted being told such a thing directly…

Instead of saying it with words, if you could just nonchalantly do like this, everyone will understand anyway!

In my case, anyway, I’m actually happy to be able to talk both with people supporting me and with those supporting other members.
When I see goods or T-shirts of other girls I end up talking about nothing but them lol

Oh, I was about to forget!
As I was thinking I would want Airi’s GekiOshi towel…

I was too laaaaaaaaaaaaateeeeee!!!

I guess I have no other choice but to buy it…(*゜ロ゜)!!

The concert is overrrrrrrrr!
Sorry I couldn’t contact all day. Forgive me?

You know somehow I feel I changed a bit, nope, tremendously, through this tour.
I’ve come to express my true self more, I’m having more fun and can mute my inhibitions in a way I wasn’t able to before.

Is it because we didn’t perform a simple concert but we all experienced the same tour this time?
Building something together results in a feeling of unity, right?
Thought it’s something I ought to have achieved much earlier.
Still, that may well turn out to be a great step forward for me.
Thank you for bringing me self-confidence.

Boosted by those feelings, let’s go all out tomorrow ＼(^o^)／

Good morning!

Here’s something I got suddenly reminded of.
Sice lately I’m constantly saying things like “Ah, so cute…" or “Nice to be so cute…" while watching anyone, Sashii, worried, asked me:

"What’s wrong with you lately!?"

It’s lack of confidence!

Everyone around me is so cute and it hits me because I want to become just as cute!
Though I do believe it’s just a feelings-related problem, so I need to feel conscious of my desire of becoming cuter!
I shall auto-suggest myself that I’m cute!!

No matter what they do, no matter what I watch, everyone looks tens of thousands of times cuter than me.

But well, being surrounded by that it’s also happiness for me… lol

Also…I want to become more cheerful!
I’m too gloomy…and I get excited over different things compared to common people lol
As the other day, in the Sapporo Dome, I was just normally talking to Churi-chan, I got like “Yeeeeeah!!!" and Sasshii and Takamina told me:

"…Have you always been that energetic…?"

But I think my tension in that moment was totally normal!!
I also end up having Yuuka-chan lightly worry about me, saying things like “Seriously, how gloomy are you usually…?"

These are the negative aspects about me.
Even though I know I should go on much more forcefully…!

So…that was me getting a bit blue as I was reconsidering my own self…
I want to get rid of my shyness and start to depend more on others!

I feel relieved.
I was insecure thinking about what I should’ve done in case she wouldn’t talk to me, but it all went fine!

Good morning.

Sorry if I basically couldn’t post at all yesterday!

From morning until night, during the rehearsal, I barely could go back in the backstage so I couldn’t post anything.

Still, by watching everyone’s rehearsal, there were so many things that charmed me or that I could learn from.

I really love Miorin’s recent performances!
There’s a variety of power and softness and the balance between them kinda catches my eyes!

Every time I happen to think something’s nice, Miorin is there!
I should learn from her!

Also, you know? I like Kashiwagi-san.
Her idol dance, the kind that makes my chest tighten when I watch it, resembles Manatsu’s Finland!

And about Manatsu’s Gyakuten Oujisama…I still haven’t watched it because I’m not enough mentally prepared yet…
As I told it to Manatsu…

There was a Stage today, and if that wasn’t enough already, there also was my Birthday Celebration!!
Thanks to everyone who came and to those who supported me.

My 4th Birthday Celebration in SKE.
My first Birthday Celebration in Team E.
And my second E’s Stage.

I was very nervous.
But I’m also very grateful I could have my birthday celebrated during this precious second performance.

If my heart felt warmer seeing the light sticks during the songs and the huge amount of green ones, is because your feelings were able to jump directly in my heart! 
Team E’s colour is green, so seeing so much of it in the theater made me feel as if you were pushing me from behind.
As I was thinking of it, I got teary eyes during the encore.

The Team isn’t stable enough for me to feel like I could fall backward.
But the Team is not something I’m going to build, we’re going to build it together, so I’m thinking that I myself must do some fall backward practice!
Also, I want to aim higher together with these 16 members and their various personalities.

And as an individual, I’m going to work hard in order to give you a lot of great news about plays and other works.
As a group and as an individual, I’m going to become relevant and recognized! 
That’s my goal for this year.

It might look as if I’m only thinking about the Team, but I’m properly working thinking also about my own self.
I’ll keep working hard so that it’ll all turn out to be a plus!

Well then, let’s move another step forward…

It’s my birthday today.

I turned 22.

When I was younger I used to get shivers even just by imagining how old I would’ve been once Harry Potter would come to an end.
A long time passed from then and I reached my twenties…

But, you know? I was able to spend the very moment my birthday began in Disneyland, shooting for [Minna de Tsunagu Mahou no Melody] that will air on August 18th at 19:00 on NHK general TV!



So many members and people from the staff celebrated me.
I was actually changing in that very moment so it went like: 

"And today is Rena’s Birthday!!!"
"Yeeeeeah!!!"
"…Hm? Where is Rena!?"

lol

It looks like I’ll keep being my pace during my 22nd year too!
However I myself panicked a bit!

Also…today I even celebrated my birthday at home!!
A dinner party with my family.
With my beloved…



Cheese fondue and…



Paella!

Aside from this, I also ate the cake!
I think about 2 years passed since I last ate out with my family!

Mom and dad were happy too and that was enough to make me feel happy too.

I’ll be delivering to you all the happy power I got today from the stage tomorrow!
Please prepare a mitt and wait for it okay!

As for what Stage it’ll be…it’s still a secret.

But, you know? I was having so much fun during the lessons that today I suddenly thought “Ah, I can’t wait to show it to the fans!!".

It’s a Team in which nobody’s individuality gets clouded and everyone is the main character!!
And it’ll be the Team I’ll have you consider the best!

Right now we’re all starting from the same line, so I’ll absolutely make it like that!

Tomorrow I’m going to stand on the stage with a smile!!!
